The Certificate Course for Diabetes is a joint initiative of the Family Medicine and Endocrinology Department of Fatima Memorial Hospital and it’s vision lies in empowering Family Physicians in the management of Diabetes and more importantly Pre=Diabetes. Family Physicians being the first contact with the patients and their families within their communities are best placed to detect Diabetes early and help prevent complications for e.g. Ischemic heart disease, amputations due to neuropathy, kidney failure etc. due to which Diabetes is the biggest burden to the health care system worldwide. We aim to empower Family Physicians to be able to comprehensively manage Diabetes not only through medication but also screening and early detection of complications and also patient education and community involvement. We hope that through this we will be able to ultimately make a difference by reducing the impact of this illness on our patients, their families and the health care system.
