NUR Foundation – Fatima Memorial Hospital International Conference – General Medical Update

NUR Foundation – Fatima Memorial Hospital in collaboration with eminent medical professionals (expatriate Pakistanis) from Harvard, John’s Hopkins USA

NUR Foundation – Fatima Memorial Hospital in collaboration with eminent medical professionals (expatriate Pakistanis) from Harvard, John’s Hopkins USA and UK jointly organized a 3-day conference at Fatima Memorial Hospital from February 27, 2019 to March 1, 2019.

 

The conference was accredited by European Accrediting Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) and designed to touch upon key health issues and healthcare challenges in Pakistan as well as South Asia. The conference encompassed a very useful 3-day interaction on updates in Urology, Nephrology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Rheumatology, and Neurology, sessions of meet the experts, which included case based discussions.

 

The early morning session on Day 1 comprised of a panel discussion, inaugurated and participated by The Honorable Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Rashid – Provincial Minister for Health, Punjab. In her address, The Minister expressed admiration on the efforts of NUR-FMS for organizing a conference of such a large scale. Other participants included VC’s of Medical Universities in Lahore, DG Nursing, Dr. Shaukat Ashai MD (USA) International Director of the Conference, Dr. Ghulam Rasool Mufti Consultant Urological Surgeon & Fitness to Practise Tribunal Member, General Medical Council UK.

 

The Chief Guest of State of the Art Session was the Honorable Governor & Chancellor of Universities Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar. The Honorable Governor lauded the endeavors of NUR-FMS in contributing to quality education and in providing healthcare to the marginalized communities at the doorstep, and in supporting Government in natural disasters & described NUR-FMS as a role model in the development sector.

 

Prof. Dr. Nausherwan Burki, Advisor to the honorable Prime Minister on Health and Chairman Board of Governors, Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar was the chief guest for the concluding ceremony. Dr. Nausherwan Burki elaborated on his vision for the Health Sector both in the context of Medical Education & Health Service Delivery. He emphasized on the success of steps taken in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In the end, Mrs. Shahima Rehman, Chairperson Board of Management, Fatima Memorial Hospital and Chairperson, NUR Foundation thanked the Chief Guest, Guest Speakers, Faculty on the success of the International Conference. She said that Fatima Memorial Hospital and NUR Foundation are both not for profit organizations supporting the Government in its endeavors to improve health care and health education in Pakistan.
